Course provides an overview of the nonstructural provisions of the Florida Building Code – Building Volume. This course focuses on the nonstructural provisions of the code and discusses occupancy classification, general building height and area, types of construction, fire and smoke protection features, and the means of egress requirements.


Building Classification Under the FBC – 4.0 hours

Course addresses the key issues of the code regarding the proper classification of buildings. Discussed are the 26 specific occupancy groups established in the code, the characteristics of the 9 types of construction set forth in the code, the allowable height and area of a building based upon its occupancy classification, type of construction and special features, and the special provisions applicable to mixed-occupancy and unlimited area buildings.
